Personal Focus

It’s been a while since I’ve been “active” on the internet.

In the past 2 months I’ve moved, started taking a course on Game Development, doing Muay Thai once or twice a week, bought a cactus, re-organized both myself, and my project, ManaHaven.

It feels good to escape from the internet for a while. You might be surprised how much you can get done in that time-frame.

Just one more line…

I’m headed off to New York in a day or two and should be packing. The problem? I can’t stop adding stuff for the up-coming update on ManaHaven.

Also just pixeled us a new little favicon. 16x16 is small enough to hide my “pixel skills”. :D

Progress on MH v0.3

Things have been busy! Probably now more than ever.

The battles are still a bit unstable, particularly with how much processing is going on on the server-side. I’ll have to look into some kind of in-memory caching soon to mitigate with the load.

On the bright side, the peak lead us to having +30 users online at once! We also had about 23 users online last I checked, which is pretty good for a week or two after the release.

The main issue I’m having with improving the battles is the amount of code I have to hack through at the moment, it’s too messy to keep working on top of. That makes it really difficult to do even what may seem like minor tweaks. I’ll have to take some time to pay the dirty code dept I’m in to be able to work on it without driving myself crazy. A couple of days for refactoring the battle’s javascript code sounds like a good idea. :D

I’m having some really crazy ideas on stuff to implement, I’m also hunting down artists and keeping an eye open for any potential good programmers out there. I can handle the work myself for a while longer, but finding a good programming partner is pretty hard.

I hope to have an update ready in less than 3 weeks time. I have some travel plans soon that might take up my time for a bit.

Less Pixeltweak in the next 24 hours

I don’t plan to be actively fixing bugs or implementing features tommorow, have my special 5th year anniversary with my dearest.

Just pushed some patches for our battles, so it should hold off the major bugs for a couple of hours till I’m back. :D
